Asheville City Guide: Best Places to Shop

Don't ask me why, but every time my mom, two sisters, and I are together in a new city, we always find time to do some shopping. Whether it's for clothes, books, gifts, what have you, we're shopping. So, in honor of that family tradition, I give you my favorite places in Asheville, NC to shop.

Downtown

Duncan + York

The theme for D&Y - “Omg this is so cute!” Spend five minutes in here, and you’ll hear that about 10 times. The owners, Stephanie and Lindsay, have such amazing taste, and it’s evident in the product they carry. What’s cool is that any person, no matter gender or age, will find something they love in here. They have baby gifts, Asheville themed gifts, unique men’s goods, luxury fragrances, delicious treats, paper and print designs, divine candles, the list goes on. Seriously, I dare you to walk in here and leave empty-handed. It’s impossible.

Tops for Shoes

So. Many. Shoes. It’s a shoe-lovers paradise. (And the sale section isn’t so bad either.) The customer service is just so unparalleled - I don’t think I’ve had my foot truly measured since I was little, but the folks at Tops are awesome human beings who really take care of you.

Battery Park Book Exchange

I mean, who doesn’t love a champagne bar? Especially while shopping. And surrounded by beautiful old literature. Yep, three of my favorite things all wrapped up in one place. Take your girlfriends and enjoy a quiet night on the town. You’re welcome.

Malaprop's Bookstore + Cafe

While you're on the book kick, check out Malaprops. No champagne, but definitely a unique selection of reads with events like book club and trivia parties often.

Minx Boutique

Looking for cute dresses, sweaters, and tops at an affordable place? This is it. Whenever I need a quick outfit that I know will impress, I always stop by Minx. The ladies are super helpful (and are always welcoming of Porter). This is one of my favorite go-tos.

Old North

This is the spot for you and your man. Stylish, small batch brands that range from basics to statement making. I particularly love the aesthetic of this store; its just so clean and fresh.

(Shameless plug - we've got some amazing Men's gifts in stock right now, too, so be sure to check them out, too :))

Biltmore Village

Porter & Prince

The softest, most comfortable linens I’ve ever felt. And luxuriously beautiful sleepwear? Yes, please. Can I just live and sleep here, please?

Bette Boutique

The owners, Tara and Dede, are two of my favorite people. When you walk into Bette, you feel like you’re shopping with friends - they will tell you like it is, and they’ll find the perfect outfit for you that makes you feel amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever walked out of Bette without a smile on my face. Also, I should mention, that Bette carries MFF so obvi, check it out next time you’re in town :)

It's Sunday and you've had a hard week - get out there and do some retail therapy!

Cheers,
Mary Frances
