February's 5 Happy Things
I told myself that in 2017, I'm vowing to be more grateful and happy in the everyday, even with the little things. So, to keep up with that promise, I'm going to attempt to put together a list of five things that are making me happy right now at the beginning of each month and publish it here on the blog. Care to join me? Share your 5 Happy Things in the comments!
1. Big. News. WE'RE MOVING TO RALEIGH.
Yep, in just a few short weeks, I will no longer be an Asheville resident (trust me, this is not the "happy thing"), but I will officially be a Raleigh, NC resident (THIS is the happy thing!). Though I'm sad beyond words to leave a town that I've come to call home, I am excited for this new chapter and know that it is the right move for me, the MFF team (aka Me + Porter + Hobbs), and the MFF business. If you have any must-dos or know any must-meets in Raleigh, PLEASE hit me up in the comments (or via email through our contact page). (And psssttttt - look out for a big MOVING SALE happening later this week - gotta clean house so I have less to pack!)
2. These earrings
I can't take them off my ears. I have to stop myself from taking yet another picture of me wearing them for Instagram because I started to realize that I'm wearing them everyday. Seriously, go pick some up for yourself - you won't regret it. I'm not a big dangle earring person so these are perfect - they add just the right amount of "whoa, those are cool" to your outfit without driving you nuts hitting against your neck and pulling on your ears all night. Win, win.
3. This video
With everything going on in the world and on social media with politics and human rights, this video makes me smile and regain faith.
4. Sunnyside Trading Co, a new home decor shop recently opened in Asheville, NC
A few weekends ago, right when Hobbs and I found out we would be moving, we took a stroll in the River Arts District to hopefully find our take-away gifts from the town we love so much. We were sort of on the hunt for a coffee table since neither of us have one, and when we stumbled across Sunnyside Trading Co, I was in love. The textiles are playful and exotic, adding that perfect well-traveled look to any home, while the wood elements are riiiighhhtt up my alley, and we quickly became obsessed with this little shop. Holler for outta-towners because they also have an online shop! AND (it gets better), they have a huge warehouse a little outside of Asheville with even more home goods with deeper discounts (or so I've been told - we haven't made it out there quite yet). Check, check, check it out.
5. Our Asheville People
Hobbs and I have been very fortunate to make some incredible friends during our time here, and I'm grateful that we've had ample opportunity to hang out with those people in the last few weeks and weekends. Though my team lost in the Super Bowl last night, spending time with "our people" was, as cheesy as it sounds, better than a win. Leaving a place you love really makes you reflect and appreciate all the times when you've just hung out, with no agenda, and spent real time with people you love. I'm lucky to have called Asheville home for the past two and half years, and I know it will always be a special place for both me and Hobbs.
Here's to new adventures!
